Project Description

​

Ilford Yard Stabling Project was a £55 million project between VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd and Crossrail. This project covered the provision of additional stabling facilities at Ilford Depot.

 

As well as the provision of additional stabling facilities the project required changes to a number of existing buildings at the Ilford Yard to ensure that Crossrail can build ten new sidings to house trains overnight.

Work included the demolition of Workshop B, the existing Paint Shop, Mess Buildings and Shunters Cabin. A replacement Paint Shop and new Logistics and Stores building was constructed. Modifications to Bombardier Transportation Workshop A were also completed.

Install 2 no. pumping stations

• Install 6.2 x 2.1m foul water pump station at a depth of 6.5 metres

• Install 2.0 x 2.0 x 4.0m deep tank at a depth of 5.5 metres

Installed new vehicle crossing over railway track

• Utilised our PTS operatives to breakout existing vehicle crossing

• Installed new vehicle tarmac crossing under line possession and isolation

Drainage

• 980m of drainage with pipe diameter up to 600mm

• 34 no. manholes – maximum depth = 4.5 metres deep

Ducting

• 6450m of ducting

• 65 no duct pits

• 750m of troughing

​

Rainwater Harvesting Tank

• 7.0 x 2.0m RWHT installed at a depth of 3.5m deep

​

Attenuation Tank

• 884m3 attenuation tank

​

Installed new Substation

• Including excavation, shutter & pour of concrete and backfill complete
