Project Description:

​

A new station is to be built by TfL adjacent to the existing Overground Station.This is a £22 million project with Buckingham group as the main contractor.

 

The new station will have accessible lifts installed for both platforms. There will be an increase in the number of ticket gates, wider platforms and a staircase connecting the two platforms. The forecourt at the entrance will be widened as will the pavement connecting to the nearby tube stations

The existing station will be converted for retail.

 

Main Scope of Work

Enabling Works

• Installation of 2 no. reinforced slab to form base to the site offices

• Lay tarmac to remaining areas of site compound

​

Create new access onto site

• Set up Traffic Management

• Breakout existing paving and lower existing services

• Lay new concrete slab

• Demolish existing wall to accommodate site entrance

• Fabricate steel gates and erect hoarding

• Carry out site clearance and removal of all green waste from site

​

Relocation of existing platform waiting shelters

• Richmonds’ PTS operatives were utilised during night shift to relocate the existing waiting shelters

 

Bulk excavation of material

and cart off site

• 250 plus loads of muck was carted off site

• Carry out CBR tests on the ground at formation level

 

Installation of crane pad for a

100-tonne crane​

• TensarTech TR2 System was utilised to produce a temporary access ramp and crane pad for 100-tonne crane

• The crane pad had a near vertical face wall that was 4.5m high.

• This system allowed the crane pad to be build within 1 metre of the live pedestrian platform.

• Over 180 loads of stone were used for the crane base

• Carry out incremental plate bearing tests on the finished ground
